Trenching for footings and sewer pipe
Sand and visqueen go down under the slab to keep moisture from wicking up through the dirt below. Sewer pipes get wrapped wherever they contact concrete.
We had a decent downpour over the weekend and our footings aren’t looking so good today.
This soil is so sandy that the water drained out of the footing in about a day. Not bad. Everyone is back at it today.
We decided to depress the door thresholds into the slabs. By doing this, we can eliminate that annoying trip hazard at the base of the door. Water still stays out and nobody stubs their toe. In order to do this, though, you have to place pieces of wood where the doors go to block out or depress the slab in that area. We cut up some 1x and 2x material and Ash man helped us unload it at the site. 1x is for the French doors and 2x is for the sliding doors since each has a different sill height.
We are also depressing the shower area slabs on the ground floor. This will let us build out a custom shower pan without a curb. The showers end up being more like shower rooms that transition easily from the adjacent bedroom without having to step over or into anything.
Rebar is in. The bar sticking up at the perimeter is for some block walls we’ll be putting in.
Though most of the electrical will be run through the walls and ceiling, some of the conduit goes in under the slab and through footings.
